Container transport
With container transport goods can be shipped relatively easily, safely, sustainably and economically. When shipping containers, the cargo may consist of a full load or one or more partial loads. There are various types of sea containers: sea containers exist in different sizes. The full container cargo is also called Full Container Load (FCL or FCL freight) or FCL Cargo. Partial loads are called Less than Container Load-loads (LCL or LCL-freight or LCL-Cargo). In almost 700 loading ports worldwide The Freight Hero buys the volume of entire containers and offers the total volume via the online platform thefreighthero.nl very advantageously in partial volumes directly to the LCL shippers market. The ports of unloading (Port of Discharge / POD) that facilitate The Freight Hero are the ports of Hamburg (Germany), Antwerp (Belgium) and Rotterdam (Netherlands).
Container transport: Full container load (FCL)
There are different sizes of containers. The smallest container shipping (shipments) is the so-called 20 foot (ft) container and the largest the 40 ft High Cube (HC). The length of the container is expressed in the number of feet (ft). These standardized sizes are ideal for transporting goods by sea and after transhipment by road, rail or water. The standard size of a container is the TEU. A TEU is 20 feet (about 6 meters) long, 8 feet (2.44 meters) wide and 8 1/2 feet (2.60 meters) high. 40ft High Cube containers are about 30 cm higher than the standard 40ft container so that pallets can be loaded higher.
